As a man, do I need to be circumcised after converting to Islam?

Circumcision is considered part of the fitra — the natural, recommended practices of cleanliness associated with the prophetic tradition — and most scholars strongly encourage it for male converts, but it is not treated as an absolute condition for your Islam to be valid. If you're an adult convert, talk to a knowledgeable local imam or Islamic medical resource about timing and practicalities; many scholars allow flexibility around age, health conditions, or personal circumstances, and it's something you can plan for rather than something demanded of you the day you take shahada. Your prayers, fasting, and standing as a Muslim are not invalidated in the meantime. Approach the decision practically and without anxiety — discuss any health considerations with a doctor first, and don't let this detail become a source of stress that overshadows the much bigger, more immediate steps of learning to pray and building your practice. Like everything else in this early period, it's one part of a much larger picture, not a pass-or-fail gate on your faith.
