deen2u is a mostly static website with a small backend that powers a few specific features — the Ask form, the newsletter, and site analytics. Visitors never need to create an account or log in. This policy explains exactly what information those features handle.
The short version
- No visitor accounts and no user profiles for browsing the site.
- No advertising networks, and we never sell or rent your data.
- We use Google Analytics and a light first-party analytics beacon (details below).
- If you ask a question or subscribe to the newsletter, what you submit is stored on our server — nothing is collected from people who just browse.
- Prayer-time geolocation is used only with your permission and is not stored on our servers.
Hosting and Cloudflare
The site is served behind Cloudflare, which acts as a content delivery network and security layer. As part of delivering and protecting the site, Cloudflare may process standard request information such as your IP address and basic request logs for security, abuse prevention, and performance. This processing is handled by Cloudflare under its own privacy practices; we use it to keep the site fast and safe, not to profile you.
Analytics
We use two kinds of analytics to understand which parts of the site help people, both described here in full:
- Google Analytics (GA4). Most pages load Google's gtag script, which sets Google Analytics cookies and sends Google standard usage data (pages viewed, approximate location, device/browser information). Google processes this under its own privacy policy; you can block it with any content blocker or Google's own opt-out add-on, and the site works fully without it.
- First-party page-view beacon. Our own server records each page view: the page you opened, the referrer, your country, your browser and OS family, and your IP address in full. We keep the address so we can see which parts of the world are reading which pages. Visitors are also counted with a one-way hash that changes every day, so yesterday's hash cannot be connected to today's. These records — the address included — are automatically deleted after 180 days.
Changed on 21 August 2026. Until that date this page said your raw IP address was not stored with analytics data. That was true then and it is not true now, so the sentence has been replaced rather than quietly dropped. Page views recorded before that date hold no address. If you would rather we did not keep yours, write to us using the address below and we will remove it.
Third-party APIs
The Quran text and recitation audio are hosted locally — both are served from deen2u's own servers, not fetched from a third-party service. One feature does call a third-party API as you use it:
- aladhan.com — used to calculate prayer times.
When that feature runs, your browser communicates with that service, which may receive standard request information (such as your IP address) needed to respond. It operates under its own privacy policy, and we do not control its practices.
Live stream embeds
The Live from Makkah & Madinah page embeds two YouTube video players — the official Saudi Broadcasting Authority live broadcasts of Masjid al-Haram and Masjid an-Nabawi. deen2u does not host or re-stream this video; your browser loads the player directly from youtube.com. Once you press play, YouTube may set its own cookies and load its own scripts under Google's privacy policy, separate from anything described elsewhere on this page. No other page on the site embeds third-party video.
Prayer times and geolocation
The prayer-times feature may use your browser's geolocation to compute accurate times for your location. This happens only with your explicit permission — your browser will ask, and you can decline. When granted, your coordinates are used solely to calculate prayer times (typically by sending them to the aladhan.com API for the calculation). We do not store your location on our servers. You can revoke location permission at any time in your browser settings.
The Ask form
When you submit a question through Ask a Question, it is sent to and stored on our server: the question text, your name and email if you choose to give them, and — for abuse prevention and rate limiting — your IP address and browser identifier. Submissions are reviewed privately by the site admin. If a question is published to the public Q&A, it is published without your name, email, or any identifying details. We use your email only to respond to you, and you can ask for your submission to be deleted at any time by writing to [email protected].
The newsletter
If you subscribe on the homepage, we store your email address, the time you subscribed, your consent, and the IP address the request came from (abuse prevention). Your email is used only to send the occasional updates described next to the signup box — never shared or sold. To unsubscribe, email [email protected] from the subscribed address (or from anywhere, naming it) and we will remove you promptly.
Cookies, local storage, and offline caching
deen2u sets no advertising cookies of its own; the only cookies on the visitor-facing site come from Google Analytics and, if you press play on the live stream page, YouTube — both described above. Where the site remembers a preference — for example your chosen font size or a similar display setting — it stores that value in your browser's localStorage on your own device. The site also installs a service worker that caches pages you visit on your own device so they open faster and work offline. All of this stays in your browser, is not readable by us, and can be cleared at any time through your browser settings. (The staff-only admin panel uses a session cookie and Google Sign-In, but that surface is for the site's administrator — visitors never encounter it.)
What we don't do
- We do not run advertising networks or ad trackers.
- We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data.
- We do not build advertising profiles of visitors.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page.
