What is the Mizan, the Balance of deeds on Judgment Day?

The Mizan is the Balance (or Scale) on the Day of Judgment on which every person's deeds will be weighed to determine their record of good and bad actions. The Quran states that the weighing that day is true (haqq): those whose good deeds are heavy will be successful, and those whose good deeds are light will have lost themselves through the harm they caused their own souls. Scholars discuss whether "weighing" refers to the deeds themselves being given physical weight, the record of deeds being weighed, or the person's own worth—several hadith describe a person's statement of remembrance, such as "SubhanAllahi wa bihamdihi," being weighty enough to fill or tip the scale, showing that value before Allah is not about the quantity of deeds but their sincerity and alignment with faith. The Mizan reflects the Islamic principle of perfect divine justice: no soul will be wronged in the slightest on that Day, and every act of good or evil, however small, is accounted for.
