The Quran describes the Day of Judgment beginning with a trumpet blast that ends all of creation, followed by a second blast that raises every soul back to life. 'The Horn will be blown, and at once they will come out of the graves, hurrying to their Lord' (36:51). People will be resurrected exactly as they were first created — barefoot, without clothing, in the state they were born — and gathered together on a vast, level plain, with the sun brought unbearably close. It will be a day of overwhelming personal reckoning: the Quran describes a person fleeing even from their own kin that Day, 'for every man, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others' (80:37) — not from lack of love, but because each soul will be consumed with its own record before Allah. It's a sobering scene, but its purpose isn't just fear — it's to remind us that this life is preparation, that nothing is forgotten, and that ultimately every soul stands alone before a Judge who is also infinitely merciful.
