Ayyub (Job)

The prophet of patience through affliction
Ancient antiquity

Ayyub (peace be upon him) was tested with adversity and affliction, yet he remained patient and did not turn from his Lord. He called upon Allah, saying, "Indeed adversity has touched me, and You are the most merciful of the merciful" (21:83).

Allah responded to his prayer and removed the harm that afflicted him, restoring his family and doubling them as a mercy from Him and a reminder to those who worship (21:84). Allah instructed him, "Strike with your foot; this is a cool bath and a drink," providing relief and healing (38:42).

The Qur'an praises Ayyub as an excellent servant who constantly turned to Allah (awwab), and Allah found him patient (38:44). His name endures as the very model of sabr, patience under trial without complaint against Allah's decree.

Allah counts him among the guided prophets He favoured, alongside Nuh, Ibrahim, and their descendants (6:84). His story teaches that trials are a test through which Allah raises the ranks of His sincere servants.
