Ishaq (peace be upon him) was announced to Ibrahim and his wife as glad tidings while she was old and barren; she marvelled, and the angels affirmed it was the decree of Allah, whose mercy and blessings are upon that household (11:71-73, 51:28-30). He was given as a righteous prophet (37:112).
Allah blessed Ibrahim and Ishaq, and made prophethood and the Scripture continue in their descendants (29:27). Beyond Ishaq, Allah granted Ya'qub (Jacob) as a further gift (21:72).
The Qur'an names Ishaq repeatedly among the prophets and righteous, describing him along with Ibrahim and Ya'qub as possessors of strength and vision, chosen and pure, who kept the remembrance of the Hereafter foremost (38:45-47). Muslims are commanded to believe in what was revealed to Ibrahim, Isma'il, Ishaq, Ya'qub and the tribes, making no distinction among the messengers (2:136).
