Bismillahir-rahmanir-rahim. Qul huwallahu ahad (1) Allahus-samad (2) Lam yalid walam yulad (3) Walam yakun lahu kufuwan ahad (4) — Bismillahir-rahmanir-rahim. (2) He neither begets nor was He begotten, (3) and there is none comparable to Him. (4) In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. Say: I seek refuge in the Lord of the daybreak (1) from the evil of what He has created, (2) and from the evil of the darkness when it gathers, (3) and from the evil of those who blow on knots, (4) and from the evil of an envier when he envies. (5) In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful. Allah — there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is there that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursī extends over the heavens and the earth, and preserving them does not weary Him. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. (255)

The Messenger believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and so do the believers. Each of them believes in Allah, His angels, His Books and His messengers: “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they say: “We hear and we obey. [We ask] Your forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the final return.” (285) Allah does not burden any soul beyond its capacity. In its favour is the good it has earned, and against it the evil it has earned. “Our Lord, do not take us to task if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord, do not lay upon us a burden like the one You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, do not burden us with what we have no strength to bear. Pardon us, forgive us and have mercy on us. You are our Protector, so grant us victory over the disbelieving people.” (286)

If one of you gets up from his bed and then returns to it, let him shake it out three times with the edge of his lower garment and mention the name of Allah, for he does not know what has come onto it after him. Then, when he lies down, let him say:

بِاسْمِكَ رَبِّي وَضَعْتُ جَنْبِي، وَبِكَ أَرْفَعُهُ، فَإِنْ أَمْسَكْتَ نَفْسِي فَارْحَمْهَا، وَإِنْ أَرْسَلْتَهَا فَاحْفَظْهَا بِمَا تَحْفَظُ بِهِ عِبَادَكَ الصَّالِحِينَ
