Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam (Sahih al-Bukhari 8; Sahih Muslim 16), but Allah made it obligatory only on those who are able: "And Hajj to the House is a duty owed to Allah by whoever is able to find a way there" (Quran 3:97). "Able" means bodily health, a safe route, and the financial means to travel and to leave enough behind for your dependants and your debts — so if you cannot afford it, it is simply not yet required of you and you are not sinful. It is obligatory only once in a lifetime; anything beyond that is voluntary. Focus first on establishing your five daily prayers and learning the basics, and make Hajj your intention and duʿāʾ for when Allah opens the way; if you die before ever being able, you are not held accountable for it.
