Is a woman's ordinary vaginal discharge impure, and does it break her wudu?

The stronger view, held by Shaykh Ibn 'Uthaymin among others, is that the ordinary white or clear discharge of a healthy woman is pure (tahir), so she need not wash or change her clothes because of it. As to wudu, the majority of scholars hold that it does nullify wudu because it exits from the private part, so she renews her wudu when she wants to pray; a minority did not consider it a nullifier at all. A woman with constant discharge is treated as one with a chronic excuse: she makes wudu after the prayer time enters and prays, and whatever comes out afterwards does not invalidate that prayer. She should not give in to waswas about it: the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked about a man who imagines something has come out of him during prayer and answered, "He should not leave his prayer until he hears a sound or finds a smell" (Sahih al-Bukhari 137) — established purity is not undone by mere doubt.
