يَحْيَىٰ

Yahya (John (the Baptist))

The prophet of wisdom, purity, and devotion from childhood
Ancient Jerusalem, near the time of Isa

Yahya (peace be upon him) was the son given to Zakariya as a glad tiding, bearing a name given to none before him (19:7). Allah commanded him, "O Yahya, take the Scripture with determination," and granted him wisdom while still a child (19:12).

Allah describes him with rare praise: He gave him tenderness of heart and purity, and he was reverent, dutiful to his parents, and never arrogant or disobedient (19:13-14). He was raised to worship and righteousness from a young age.

Allah confirmed his prophethood, naming him among the righteous, alongside Zakariya, Isa, and Ilyas (6:85, 3:39). He came as one confirming a word from Allah, referring to Isa, and was noble and chaste (3:39).

Allah pronounced peace upon Yahya on the day he was born, the day he dies, and the day he is raised alive (19:15), the same honour granted to Isa. His life is a model of devotion, purity, and dutifulness from the earliest age.
