What is the reward for caring for orphans, and how must their property be treated?

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'I and the one who sponsors an orphan will be in Paradise like this,' joining his index and middle fingers to show their closeness. Allah commands that orphans be treated gently and never oppressed (Qur'an 93:9), and He issues a stern warning that those who wrongfully consume an orphan's wealth 'only swallow fire into their bellies' (Qur'an 4:10). Guardians must therefore safeguard and grow an orphan's property, handing it over in full when the child reaches maturity.
