Q&A · Zakat

How much is Zakat al-Fitr and when is it due?

Zakat al-Fitr is a measure (about 2.5–3 kg) of the staple food of the region, given on behalf of each member of the household, and paid before the Eid al-Fitr prayer. It purifies the fast and provides for the poor on the day of celebration.
