Is cupping (hijama) and prophetic medicine like honey and black seed actually recommended in Islam?

Yes, these remedies are grounded in authentic texts and are a praised part of the Sunnah, though seeking any lawful, effective treatment is likewise encouraged. Allah described honey as containing "healing for people" (16:69), and the Prophet ﷺ said of black seed (Nigella sativa) that "in it is healing for every disease except death." Cupping (hijama) is well established: the Prophet ﷺ was cupped and praised it as among the best of treatments. A Muslim should benefit from these while understanding that healing comes from Allah alone and that modern medicine is not thereby excluded.
