Marriage is encouraged for any young person who can carry its responsibilities, and being a student is not by itself a disqualification. The Prophet ﷺ said: "O young people, whoever among you is able to marry, let him marry, for it lowers the gaze and guards the private parts; and whoever is unable, let him fast, for it is a shield for him." Scholars explain "able" (al-bāʾah) as the physical capacity together with the means to provide a home and maintenance — so the one who genuinely cannot provide is told to fast and be patient, not to rush in and then fail his wife's rights. Modest means alone are no barrier: Allah promises to enrich the poor who marry from His bounty, and parents and communities should lower the artificial financial barriers they place in front of young couples rather than adding to them.
