Does a woman make up the prayers she missed during her menses?

No. A menstruating woman, and a woman in post-natal bleeding (nifās), does not pray during that period, and she does not make those prayers up afterwards — this is agreed upon among the scholars. Muʿādhah asked ʿĀʾishah (raḍiyallāhu ʿanhā) why the menstruating woman makes up the fast but not the prayer, and she replied, "We used to go through that, and we were ordered to make up the fasts and were not ordered to make up the prayers." In another narration she said to the questioner, "Are you a Ḥarūriyyah?" — rebuking the idea that this leniency was something to be argued away. A woman should not feel she is falling short: leaving prayer at that time is itself obedience to Allah's command, and she can keep her heart connected through dhikr, duʿāʾ, istighfār, and listening to the Qurʾān.
