Islam places tremendous emphasis on the rights of neighbors regardless of whether they are Muslim or not. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'Jibril kept advising me concerning the neighbor until I thought he would make him an heir,' showing how weighty this right is. He also warned, 'By Allah, he does not believe,' and when asked who, replied, 'The one whose neighbor is not safe from his harm,' and taught that whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honor his neighbor. The duties include not causing harm, sharing good, checking on their welfare, and being generous with them.
