What are the rights of workers and employees in Islam?

The Prophet ﷺ commanded, "Give the worker his wages before his sweat dries," establishing prompt and fair payment as a religious duty, not mere charity. In a sacred hadith Allah names, among three whose adversary He will be on the Day of Resurrection, a man who hires a worker, takes full labor from him, yet does not pay his wage. Employers are also taught to feed and clothe those under them from what they eat and wear and not to burden them beyond their capacity, reflecting the Prophet's ﷺ care for the dignity of those who serve.
