Is it permissible to work as an accountant, clerk, or witness for interest-based transactions?

Directly recording, documenting, or witnessing riba contracts is impermissible, because the sin of riba is not limited to the two contracting parties. Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) cursed the one who consumes riba, the one who pays it, the one who writes it down, and its two witnesses," and he said, "They are all equal." A believer should therefore avoid roles whose core function is processing interest, even if he personally neither pays nor receives it. Where a job includes only incidental exposure that cannot be avoided, scholars weigh necessity and the extent of involvement, but knowingly writing the riba contract itself is what the hadith explicitly condemns.
