Raising daughters with patience and kindness is a direct means to Paradise and a shield from the Fire. 'Ā'isha reported that a poor woman came begging with her two daughters, and after the Prophet (ﷺ) heard how she shared the food equally among them he said: "Whoever is tested with anything from these daughters and treats them well, they will be a shield for him from the Fire." This uproots the pre-Islamic contempt for daughters and shows that a father is rewarded, not burdened, by them.
