Q&A · Prayer

What should you say when you hear the adhan (call to prayer)?

When you hear the muadhin, repeat what he says word for word, except at "Hayya 'ala as-salah" and "Hayya 'ala al-falah," where you say "La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah." After the adhan ends, send salah upon the Prophet (peace be upon him) and then ask Allah to grant him al-Wasilah, saying: "Allahumma rabba hadhihi ad-da'wati at-tammah wa as-salati al-qa'imah, ati Muhammadan al-wasilata wa al-fadilah, wab'ath-hu maqaman mahmudan alladhi wa'adtah." Whoever says this du'a will be entitled to the Prophet's intercession on the Day of Resurrection.
